Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarships
There are currently five degree scholarships available to CCHE students:

Wes Hedstrom Scholarship: $300 Scholarship available to distance education students residing in Cook County. Click here to apply.

Michel S. Beaupre Scholarship: $300 Scholarship available to a Cook County resident interested in pursuing a trade. Click here to apply.

Textbook Scholarship: Scholarships up to $125 per calendar year are awarded based on financial need. Click here to apply.

Lloyd K. Johnson Scholarship:  Up to $2,000 scholarships for those that may be unemployed, underemployed, earning too much for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) support (but not earning a self supporting income), and participating in education programs to provide entry to career paths that may lead to gainful employment. Email or call to request an application.

Nancy & Mike Carlson Scholarship:
 Up to $2,000 scholarships for those that are enrolled in a degree program with an educational focus, such as teaching, early childhood, etc. Email or call to request an application.

We have a new scholarhsip in honor of Nancy and Mike Carlson.  The Nancy and Mike Scholarship Fund is for students seeking a degree or certificate in literacy or education, and will include programs in early childhood education, K-12 licensure, higher education, and special education.

Nancy and Mike Scholarship memorials can be made at the North Shore Federal Credit Union; Cook County Higher Education has a Nancy and Mike Carlson Scholarship savings account so you can directly deposit your donation. If you prefer, you can mail a scholarship fund contribution to Cook County Higher Education, PO Box 57, Grand Marais, MN 55604.  Checks can be made out to CCHE (designate Nancy & Mike Carlson Scholarship on the check). You can also stop in at CCHE – we are located at 300 West 3rd Street in Grand Marais, and are open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
